Nothing Grows in your Comfort Zone
Comfort is defined as the state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint. In a state of comfort you tend to just go with things, never stopping to ask questions. You can grow comfortable in a job, relationship, or routine and that comfort zone can be a dangerous place, as you get so comfortable that you never want to leave. This can lead to complacency with other obstacles that may arise and can lead to postponing goals for the sake of staying in that comfort zone. In the comfort zone, you don’t push yourself to work harder and it can become nearly impossible to learn and grow. You can’t learn something new about yourself by staying stagnant! The only way to change this is to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself to experience new things. Life is all about being able to connect, learn, and grow and the desire to do so should never stop. Dwelling in the comfort zone leads to losing those parts of yourself that drive you to greatness.
Roy Bennet once said that, “you never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.” We naturally tend to fixate on the pessimistic thoughts such as “I can’t” or “I won’t” when it comes to taking risks in our lives. It’s important to always remember that time waits for no one. Don’t become your biggest obstacle by inviting negative thoughts. Instead invite positive thoughts and challenge yourself to run away from your comfort zone. It might be difficult in the beginning, but it’s in uncomfortable situations where we learn the most valuable lessons about ourselves and become the best version of ourselves. Remember that nothing grows in your comfort zone, except your fear to leave it!
